Environments, also called game modes or game settings by some players, are apparent as soon as a new round begins. Specific tests are applied on either the players, plates, or the entire game that correspond with the environment that is chosen. Some environments can benefit players, such as Bamboo Forest, while others can devastate them, like Small Plates. Environments can also be stacked to create different combinations. In a later update to Lab Experiment, 2 maps were added as environments: Sharkbyte HQ and Sandy Isle.
All players' plates will become a sheet of ice, as well as the game of Lab Experiment participating in a 'blizzard', slightly altering other colors in Lab Experiment with a tint of light blue light.
Bamboo Forest
All players' plates will have Bamboo in random places and all with varying heights, along with a light-green hue.
Cat-astrophy
All players will be catified, transforming into cats.
City Skyscrapers
All players' plates will become skyscrapers, reaching random, different heights that provide distance from the rising lava.
Darkness
The game will be cloaked in darkness, limiting the player's vision to quickly notice things, as well as the player's bodies emitting an area of light around themselves.
Desert
All players' plates will become a 'deserted plate', covered in sand. All plates will also receive a cactus in a random spot on their plates, as well as the game of Lab Experiment being suffocated in sand particles.
Disco Fever
All players' plates will be transformed into disco floors.
Double Trouble
All players' plates will participate in 'double events' as seen with the pitch-black plates and fire.
Forest
All players' plates will receive a tree. The game of Lab Experiment is then cloaked with a tint of green light.
Giant Plate
All players will be teleported to one, gigantic plate and must do their best to survive and cooperate with others.
Glass Plates
Likely the successor of Invisible Plates, in this setting all of the plates are a slightly transparent black color, but don't actually behave like glass, rather acting like normal plates.
Large Plates
All players' plate will be enlarged; connecting a player's plate with another plate if there is another player's plate presented next to the other player's plate.
Last Man Standing
All players will be equipped and are able to wield the Red Sword, a temporary gear that players can use to kill other players.
Marble Haven
All players' plates will be transformed into a spherical ball.
Minefield
All players' plates will receive a certain amount of mines scattered on their plates.
No Growth
All players' plates will appear to be normal with only one exception: Their plates will not be able to be affected by growth-related tests.
Normal
The default game-mode. All plates are normal and players are unaffected until a test occurs.
No Shrinking
All players' plates will not be able to shrink.
Prison
All players' plates will be concealed in a jail cage, trapping the players inside, unless the player can squeeze through its gaps.
Random Height Plates
All players' plates will be located at a different height, either being closer or further from the rising lava.
Randomly Rotated Plates
All players' plates are randomly rotated in a random direction.
Randomly Sized Plates
All players' plates will receive a different plate size from the others.
Small Plates
All players have a small plate, with a size of 10.
